Rainbow of Emotions Mindful Connections Program & Workshops

During the week when you're not here, they will talk about mindfulness. In the last few weeks they are understanding that you can get enjoyment from other things. Some don’t open up and that's tricky but now they are talking about mindfulness more and their feelings. It helps to see it coming from another person too, not just their teacher. Deborah coming in teaching and saying this. It's great to have new strategies to use too. They ask to use some of the techniques you’ve shown and they enjoy the Laughter yoga and movement too. I really think that these things are really important. Taking time out to talk and learn about each emotion is really important for children. I think that they really loved all the practical learnings as well. Children their age it's so important for them to learn about their emotions and learn it's okay to feel this. And that all of their emotions are just trying to tell them something.

Sharing about the laughter yoga sessions I love them, the staff love them, more importantly, the residents love them. Deborah engages with every level resident, she adapts to their physical needs. There are different levels of dementia and she adapts with it, she just seems to read from the residents what they need, which is really really important to us.

Each resident benefits. We get reactions and that's what we want, as well as a good few belly laughs. The residents don't mind laughing and getting stuck in and really enjoying it and they're more relaxed. It's lovely to see them having fun.

I’d recommend laughter yoga to other care homes 1000%. The physical well being of a good laugh. Besides the laughter, the breathing exercises, the stretching, the connections with other residents, the families have been able to join in and enjoy those moments with their loved ones and other residents.

    Mindfulness and Mindset

After dealing with excessive worry for a long period of time, I decided to work with Deborah. The sessions I had with her were great and she gave me a lot of tools that I now use to manage my mindset. I feel much more calmer and self assured, knowing that I have the power over my own mind, and that I can calm my nervous system easily. The learnings I discovered around my mind and body, have given me the strength to know I can and will get through anything.
